     I only list services installed by default, for the most part, and not services installed with a separate download.

   I have been an avid fan of yours for a long time, used many of your suggestion from gaming to breaking down the registry. My only question is there anyway you can put the services breakdown for windows 7 in a zip or something so i can do it off line.. BTW rock on Blackviper you have been a great help over the years!!!!!

   I dont know if this will help but i thought it would save some people alot of time: you can download the CSV at the top of the list and use it in a batch file along with the SC command to quickly reconfigure your system–but be careful to check your script very carefully before proceeding

   something like this, which is not complete in the slightest but its a start in that direction, i just used this to reconfig quickly the default services installed in windows, this script runs under cmd.exe and assumes there is a CSV list with the name ‘ts.csv’ in the current directory:

     I offered a Custom Services Batch File Tool for those that would rather use it instead of a registry file for XP, but not one person ever told me they used it, so I never created the tools for recent Windows OS’s. If a need is there, I will do so, however.

       I have used the .reg file for XP on dozens of (ancient) machines running that OS. Have no problem using a batch file…but WHERE is the .csv file referred to by “osirisgotha” so I can download it? Jesus, getting old is a pain. 60″ HDTV as a monitor, and I *STILL* can’t find things on a page without an 11-year-old standing there to point it out to me (!). Thanks…

   As always, THANKS x1M! Was running Vista HP (x64) for 2+ years, no problems. Then…BSOD!! Lost no data (almost have OCD when it comes to backups), but decided to at least *try* Win7 Ultimate (x64) and MY GOD, how many services does MS add to each OS?!? Thie situation was absurd to start with; now it’s downright INSANITY. Without your guide(s) to what all these bloated RAM/CPU cycle-wasters really ARE and what they DO (or DON’T do), I’d be lost.

   You have NO IDEA how much the time you must dedicate to researching all this is appreciated!! Keep up the great work!

   Man I just wanted to stop in and say hello and tell you how much you have influenced me in the Tech world of today. As most of you are aware BV is coming up on 10 years of tweaks and helping people from ” noob ” or ” Leet ” back grounds. I still remember I was rocking a Dell Dimension intel p 4, 256 megs of ram, and a serious hard core 80 gig hard drive… =) … Well I just had to figure out a way to understand PC dynamics out because the gaming world was moving forward fast! I was playing Rogue Spear on MSN at the time and the ” what I learned at the time to call it ” Lag ” was SICK! Well Google is where I started 10 years ago trying to find ways of forcing a PC to respond and deliver better results. ” How to Tweak your PC ” and the name Black Viper caught my eye. I clicked the link and this is what I saw ” Black Viper’s Top tweaks for a faster PC. ” I fell in love with what one can do to a PC to tweak it; without having to spend the money on new hardware. I followed your advice for- XP pro , Vista , x86 on both, then I just have came to Windows 7. So as a 24 year old 10 years ago learning methods you taught and made it simply easy to understand, to a 33 year old now I have been on a RIDE! I am a CCNP now and to list just one of my credit, I have installed 1700 IP Surveillance cameras at a Casino in OK and installed them on a secure network with a VPN to remote in from anywhere in the world for restricted personal only to view live streams. I give you all the credit BV for motivating a young kid that I will one day pass on to my son and let his imagination grow.
