The Rant Introduction:
If you know Black Viper at all, I have my opinions. Everyone has a opinion. Whether
or not you choose to agree or disagree is totally up to you! Plenty of people ask me my opinion for various reasons:
- To seek out a new twist on a subject.
- To get a point blank view. I can be, at times, rather blunt.
- To get facts about computers without all the hype. Intel's "NetBurst" is a good one, but that is another subject
altogether.
As opinions go, take them all for what they are worth. I am not the defining authority on anything that I will be speaking
about, nor will I change anything by banging on the keyboard and posting this information on my domain. What I hope to accomplish
is get some new views, and maybe some dead ones, back out in the open for people to kick around. Think about them before you
jump all over me. You may be surprised at what you find deep down.
Also, as with any views, they may change at any time with the tide. What I write down now may not even be valid a year,
month or even day from now! Take that in to consideration before you flame me.

- For several months, I have been attacking my bandwidth problem from a totally different angle than I recently have. I was optimizing images, cutting down on all "extra" content, and compressing content for faster download time. However, after looking through my log files, that was not enough.

Banner Rant ~ Updated March 15, 2003
- Advertising has saturated everyone's life, for the better or worse. The influx of media in everyday life has also spawned the explosion of advertising in places where I really do not desire to see them. As such, this domain has not and will not have obnoxious flash, gif or other ad types. Let me explain the evolution of this decision.

Foreign Spam Rant ~ Posted November 11, 2002
- Wow. I just received my first spam in a foreign language (from the Netherlands: Dutch?). It is attempting to sell me a PDA lock. Software? Either my E-Mail address has "hit the big time" or this can only mean the world will end soon. Not only will I get Vi@gra ads in English, but I will have the pleasure of sifting through multiple languages. Something to look forward to as the internet "progresses."

- I admit it. I enjoy people contacting me and asking technical questions. I also enjoy sharing my knowledge with strangers (people that do not contact me but surf on in) as well as, sometimes, the desperate people asking me technical questions as a "last resort." As with anything, this also has it's limits.

- My current E-Mail address listed on the Contact BV page has served me well. It has been in use for over 5 years. However, in the last 10 hours, I have received 3 times more virus infected E-Mail's than I have received legitimate correspondence. Not to mention the spam that my server automatically blocks.

- For several years, I have been advising people on how to tweak their systems for performance. I have also been challenged many times over my advice. In 2007, this is no different.
