Facilitates the running of interactive applications with additional administrative privileges. If this service is stopped, users will be unable to launch applications with the additional administrative privileges they may require to perform desired user tasks.
This new service for Windows Vista works in conjunction with User Account Control and the User Profile Service to limit access to applications desiring full administrator rights. If this service becomes disabled, you may not be able to access applications and control panels that require the highest privilege, such as "services.msc". If this happens, you can boot into safe mode by holding down the F8 key and place the service back into Manual or Automatic.
