Listens for route updates sent by routers that use the Routing Information Protocol version 1 (RIPv1).
With Service Pack 1a, this feature is not available on Windows XP Home or installed by default on Windows XP Pro. However, after the installation of Service Pack 2 or 3, if needed, you may install it later by heading to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs > Add/Remove Windows Components > Select "Networking Services" > Details button > Check "RIP Listener ". If you do not know what RIP protocol is, you do not need this service installed. :)
