www.BlackViper.com: Windows XP Pro x64 (64-bit) Service Pack 2 Services 411 - HTTP SSL

> Home > Articles > OS Guides > Windows XP > Service Configuration > Services > HTTP SSL

HTTP SSL

Default Description:

This service implements the secure hypertext transfer protocol (HTTPS) for the HTTP service, using the Secure Socket Layer (SSL). If this service is disabled, any services that explicitly depend on it will fail to start.

Additional Information:

It looks as though this service has nothing to do with IE or any other browser that uses HTTPS and SSL as secure web pages still connect fine without this service started. I am not aware of any other applications that require this service to be started. This service appeared after the installation of Service Pack 2.
