This service is required if you use Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing. You may require this service for some direct cable or DSL providers and connections, depending on how they implement their logon process. If your dial-up, cable or DSL internet access no longer functions properly with this service disabled, place this service into automatic. If you use a hardware gateway or router, this service is not required.
