This is the unofficial, uncut version “non-public” dash cam video recorded on 2011-05-07 posted to my private YouTube Channel. Quality is not the best and the cam “auto focuses” a bunch, but you can make out many details, including the large ruts low on the track. Enjoy!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t4PFv-PcvRY

The first couple minutes is in the pits. I started the cam when I got into the car and was putting on my helmet before I hit staging. The white car, number 45 was in front of me and also participating in the action. I kinda stayed back from him to ensure I did not wreck him or do crazy stuff while the green flag flew so I could get a feel for the track and the car. The LTD is a big beast and probably not optimal for being on a dirt track, but I gave it all I had!

I wanted to narrate what was going on and what I was thinking, but I was too busy in awe of what was actually happening. When I spun out and went off the track several times, I giggled like a school girl and right after I parked back in the pits, I let out a summery of what I felt. :)

It seriously felt like I was going 100 miles an hour around that track, until I looked down and I was going only 40. :P Extreme tunnel vision focusing on the track and not hitting anything, though. Awesome and wild ride, I tell ya what! Peace… from BV…

Here is round two of painting the car gloss black. I have here several pictures that I took. The finish is far from perfect, but I could have dumped another 18 rattle cans of paint on it and still not been happy. I just had to stop and say good ‘nuf.

If you would like to help putting a geek in a race car and place your name on my car, visit my sponsorship information as well as current sponsors listing for the 2011 season!

The helmet was $169. $20 helps and you get your name on my car! How cool is that?!?

As promised, I have here several pictures that I took throughout the day to show that I really am going to hit the dirt track starting on May 7, 2011. My wife has figured out how we will bumper sticker the car by printing out each persons name and sticking them on the car.

If you would like to help putting a geek in a race car and place your name on my car, visit my sponsorship information as well as current sponsors listing for the 2011 season!

Even though the car was donated to me by my mother, I still need to pay for a helmet. $20 helps and you get your name on my car! How cool is that?!?

I basically grew up around dirt track racing my entire life, attending racing events all over California and Oregon since I was only a few months old. Now, I wish to break tradition in several ways and be on the race track instead of sitting in the grand stands as well as break the mold by being a geek inside a race car instead of a motor head. Thus, the birth of ”Black Viper Racing” and ”The Racing Tech”. I cannot do this alone, however, so I need your support!

For the 2011 season, I plan on getting out on the track at Yreka, California’s Siskiyou Motor Speedway and racing the dirt oval. Initially, I have only a street “run what you brung” car and not an official “race” car, but I have to start somewhere. Future plans include getting myself into a “Modified” class race car and really tearing up the dirt like only a geek can. More information and photo galleries of the build up process will be here: http://www.blackviper.com/category/news/racing/

I am offering three ways that you can become a sponsor of Black Viper Racing and “The Racing Tech”:

Individuals:

You may purchase a bumper sticker sized personal name plate for only $20 which is good for the entire 2011 season. This option is for individuals that desire to sponsor my efforts, but do not have a business they would like to promote. I will personally email you via the account on file with PayPal and thank you as well as ask what name, if any, you would like to have on your personalized name plate to be placed on my current race car.

For Companies:

For companies, I offer the option to purchase two bumper sticker sized name plate for only $50 which is good for the entire 2011 season. This option is for businesses that desire to sponsor my efforts and have a company they would like to promote as well as a website. I will personally email you via the account on file with PayPal and thank you as well as ask what name and website, if any, you would like to have on your personalized name plate to be placed on my current race car. The first bumper sticker sized plate will be the name of your business and the second one will be your companies website (domain) address. Businesses will also have a spot on my sponsorship page with a short description of their company’s product offerings as well as a link to their website.

Roll your own amount:

If the official sponsorship amounts are too low or too high, you may “roll your own” amount with the button above. Based upon donation amount, I will send a personal note of thanks, place your name on my sponsors page and/or include your name on my car.

Which ever method you choose, you will be supporting me in my efforts to get a geek on the dirt track. I thank you in advance for your support!

The car was generously donated by my Mother. It is a 1990 Ford LTD Crown Victoria. Current plans include:

  • Paint the car black
  • Include flames (probably sticker/vinyl type because I cannot draw)
  • Slap the number “72″ on it
  • Include all of my sponsors on the car

Now, you may point out that this is by far a “race car”, but I plan on putting it on the track during special events throughout the season called “Run What You Brung”. In this event, people can take out street cars that they own and run a few laps around the track. Of course, I want to drive a real race car, but baby steps. :)

Future plans include getting myself into a “Modified” class race car and really tearing up the dirt like only a geek can. Photo’s from the most recent Mountain Modified Challenge are located in this gallery.
