General Information

This service is new for Windows 8. It is basically Automatic Update for device drivers. It will have to be seen if the update cycle of device drivers are “current” or much more out of date vice the manufactures website download information.

Default Description

Enables the detection, download and installation of device-related software. If this service is disabled, devices may be configured with outdated software, and may not work correctly.
